Introduction
DOC-NEW templates allow you to merge simple to complex data from Salesforce into Microsoft Word DOC documents, similar to DOC templates.
Unlike DOC templates, however, DOC-NEW templates offer a special section-based version of the S-Docs template editor that enables you to create templates with separate sections that behave like next-page section breaks in Microsoft Word.
Main Advantages
DOC-NEW templates allow you to leverage the advantages of DOC templates plus a section-based template editor. This enables you to create subdivisions of a single document that can be formatted separately from one another, which can be useful in many ways. For example, page 1 can be landscape-oriented while page 2 is portrait-oriented. Different sections can have different CSS styles applied to them. Different sections can even be conditionally shown or hidden based on conditional logic.
Additionally, DOC-NEW templates can incorporate Microsoft Word tables of contents.

Recommended For
DOC-NEW templates are recommended for standard to complex documents that also require different styling or page orientations for different document sections.
They are also recommended for documents that require Microsoft Word tables of contents.
Main Limitations
- The Save & Preview feature (or any instance involving previewing a DOC-NEW template) is not supported due to the fact that DOC-NEW templates are created as MHT files on the backend
- Check the Embed Images checkbox in the Document Options tab in the template editor to ensure your images scale correctly
- You must use the style attribute in your image source. Click here for more information
- You must click Enable Editing in Microsoft Word for images to download correctly
