We've enhanced our support for DOCX template creation, introducing better handling of advanced formatting and improved merge field compatibility. Users can now design more visually polished and data-rich Word templates, ideal for customer-facing communications and formal documentation. In addition, a new DOCX Template Upload Lightning Web Component (LWC) is now available to complement these improvements. This user-friendly interface allows you to easily upload, manage, and version your DOCX templates directly within Salesforce, streamlining administrative tasks and enabling faster deployment.
This can improve S-Docs’ performance and lead to fewer errors.
Note: The legacy upload process applies to existing templates with related list functionality, conditional logic, etc. Templates with basic merge fields or component templates for DocX can be uploaded using this new method (using Salesforce’s compression engine).
- Navigate to your S-Docs Templates tab. Then, create a new template. For this example, we want to use the new DOCX template upload feature, so we will follow the same steps to re-enable this feature.
- Fill out the template details. DOCX templates can be in any category or related type.
- Select the DOCX template format. (You can also follow this method for a PPTX template.)
- Check the Enable New Microsoft Template Upload checkbox (this item only displays when you select DOCX or PPTX formats).
- Click Save.
- Once directed to the template record, use the Upload Lightning Web Component (LWC) to add a DOCX file to the template record.Note: Because the Enable New Microsoft Template Upload checkbox is checked, the LWC and new DOCX uploading method is enabled.
To revert to the legacy method of DOCX template generation, click Edit. Uncheck the box, click Save, and you can see that this box is now unchecked and the LWC has gone away.
- Upload the file you want to use for your document template by clicking Upload Files or dragging and dropping the file you want to use.
- Once you've added your document template, you can access the Template Editor to make any necessary changes.
