Initiating e-Signature requests from the Generated Documents LWC

Available in Spring '25: You can now launch eSignature requests directly from the Generated Documents Lightning Web Component (LWC) on a Salesforce record—no more downloading and uploading PDFs manually.

How It Works

Eligible documents displayed in the Generated Documents LWC now includes the Request eSignature option in the dropdown menu. When selected, this option automatically starts the e-Signature workflow with the selected PDF preloaded into an envelope.

From there, you can:

  • Add additional documents (if needed)

  • Set up recipients and their signing order

  • Place signature and form fields

  • Customize the email message

  • Send the request for signature

This new workflow streamlines the signing process and helps teams move faster by launching the request building process directly from records directly within Salesforce.

Document Eligibility Requirements

To appear as eligible for eSignature requests, documents must meet the following criteria:

  • Format: PDF only
  • Not S-Sign Enabled: Documents with preconfigured S-Sign fields are not compatible
  • Size: Must meet standard eSignature limits (approximately 20MB or 10 pages—may vary based on content)
If a document has been included in an active eSignature request, it cannot be deleted from the Generated Documents LWC until the request is either completed or voided. This protects the integrity of the signing process and prevents envelope tampering.
